About: New Memon Masjid

The New Memon Masjid of Karachi is one of the oldest and biggest mosques in the city, situated on M.A Jinnah Road. The central panel of the Masjid was shaped on September 17, 1948, and the First Azan was given on July 15, 1949. On August 24, 1949, Governor-General Khuwaja Nazim UD Din laid its Foundation-Stone.
The New Memon Masjid was made before Pakistan came into existence. It is said that this Masjid was made over a graveyard. As per a survey some years ago, the limit of individuals was 10000. This Masjid is well known for performing Nikkah as individuals from the Memon group do their Nikkah in this Masjid.
