Karachi Safari Park, which opened in 1970, is a family-only park financed by the public. It covers a region of 148 acres and is situated in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi. It consists of a zoo and is equipped with facilities like safari lakes, a chairlift, and two lakes. Another park named Go Aish, which is privately funded, is also situated in Safari Park’s region.

Safari Park: History

In 1970, Karachi Safari Park was built and then inaugurated by Lieutenant General Atiq-ur-Rehman. It was an autonomous task of the Karachi Municipal Corporation of that time. The development of a safari, aquarium, and zoo was done in 1995. Currently, this park is a free wing of the Community Development Department and is a family park.

Safari Park: Attractions

  • Chairlift: The 10 minutes long chairlift ride was made at the expense of approx US$ 2 million and was launched on March 8, 2006, by the City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal.
  • Swan Lake: It is a lake inside the park having a pagoda-style sitting place.
  • Kashmir Point: It is a recently made spot in Safari Park, launched by the Mayor of Karachi, Mr. Wasim Akhter. The stunning view from this point appears to be like the valleys of Kashmir, which is an uncommon sight in Karachi.
  • Elephant territory: It is a territory of around 65,000 sq, including a resting zone and bathing space.
  • Go Aish: It is a private park including a paintball, ropes course, quad trekking, mini golf club, and indoor climbing.
